Oxons College Enhancing Careers

Oxons College aims to establish itself as one of the leading organisations in its relevant field in the country. While offering courses such as diplomas in Health and Social Care, Business, IT, Teaching/Education and Development from different awarding bodies (in partnership with other colleges), we have developed over 20 courses to enhance people’s work abilities. The well-researched courses of Oxons College encompass a whole range of field-oriented practical experiences coupled with in-depth knowledge necessary for a career or profession.

The course contents are based on the topics of the relevant Profession/Vocation, which ultimately enhances the learners’ knowledge and skills of the field. For instance, the terminologies of construction industries familiarise the users with the uses of the tools. English lessons focusing on health and safety compliance make them better understand the work. Again, English for Health and Social Care improve the knowledge of, say, care worker’s understanding of the rights of carers, and of course, the rights of service users. They get a clear idea of the setting. They know how to crack a conversation with a service user who is reluctant to engage in conversation.

Professional English Language Courses

We offer English courses for different ages, walks, occupations and professions. The college has developed extensive and intensive resources, curricula and syllabuses, tailor-made course designs to administer in classroom settings. The lessons are not limited to the 4 walls of the classroom. Every course is coordinated with the relevant setting and expertise. For instance, the learners of Health and Social Care will have part of their learning experiences in Health and/or Social Care settings, ie at a care home. Likewise, in a football club or playground for the learners of English for Sports Personnel. We’ve achieved this thanks to our experience and knowledge of the sector, and through working with some of the leading experts in the field. Research works of world-leading scholars in the field of ESP (English for Special Purpose) have been thoroughly studied and have been utilised in connection with the field experience of the subject field. 

The birthplace of the English language, Britain, has the greatest contribution to English Language Teaching (ELT) in the world. Besides its historical role in spreading English globally during the British Empire, Britain has pioneered institutes for English teaching to foreigners and has introduced methodologies and teacher training programmes, among others. Britain, especially London, is the greatest (or, one of the, to avoid controversies) place attracting learners worldwide to learn English. In recent years, a significant number of people migrated to the UK, and many of them are facing difficulties to work for their lack of competence in English. 

Besides English for General Purpose (EGP), we have developed over twenty (and counting) courses of English for Special Purpose (ESP). 

While the first vacation classes on modern languages were offered in Europe in 1897 in Marburg in Germany, Ripperman led a vacation English course for international students at the University of London in 1903.
